This year's class will be limited to 25 participants per session. Please note that there are two sessions. Please see below for age brackets.
10 -11:30 AM | 6-9 y/o
12:30-2 PM | 10-16 y/o
Each student accepted will agree to pay a $50 acceptance fee. If you are someone in need of assistance, please let arts@cityofmesquite.com know.
This event is currently open to students of the age of 6-16. This is to make sure that the instructors can offer the best curriculum to students possible. At this time, Cara Mia instructor + teacher assistant has gone through background checks. Mesquite Arts Center's staff will be involved in the program, giving additional help to the educational experience.
Mesquite Arts Center does not have counselors on staff. All classes welcome families. There will be a "quiet zone" available for families that may need it.
SPRING BREAK - Mesquite Center for the Arts & Cara Mía Theatre 2024
Curriculum for Art -Frida Lozano
Group - 6 to 9
Day 1 - Flowers and Birds
Students will sketch different flowers and birds pre-Hispanic and modern designs and play with Oil Pastel colors with their favorite designs.
Day 2 - Clay Birds and Flowers
Students will paint with acrylic paint a base background color their Dots Flowers Canvas or Cardboard TO HAVE IT READY FOR THE NEXT DAY.
Then they will work on creating sculptures of their favorite Birds and Flowers from the first day.
Day 3 - Dots of flowers
Students will work on creating a spring landscape of flowers with dots technique and acrylic paint.
Day 4 - Basket of flowers
Students will create a beautiful flower basket piece on Poster board paper with paint, paper plates, and acrylic paint.
Day 5 - Spring Time Piece
Students will create a 3D Spring Landscape with construction paper and fun sheets of paper.

Students will practice how to create a few different flowers with acrylic paint and afterwards, they will create a Spring landscape with the flowers that they choose.
Day 5 - Cubist Flowers & Birds
Students will work on creating a cubist flower and/or bird with pencil and oil pastels on sketch paper.
